If it looks TOO good to be true - it probably wasn’t that great in the first place.
As a small business we’ve been weighing up the pros & cons of doing a big Black Friday sale. Here’s our list.
Pros: Sell more bear t-shirts.
Cons: Spend the extra cash we receive buying stock to fulfil discounted orders.
Here at DFTB, we proudly use great quality t-shirts. Organic cotton, ethically made, soft and durable etc (they’re pretty damn awesome tees)
Also, we’re pretty proud of how we send them out. Cool paper mailers, custom tissue wrapping, cute stickers, colourful postcards (our packaging is the Bears Bits)
All these little extras and attention to detail come at a cost to us, a very worthwhile one we feel. We want to stay affordable for as many people as possible, & we haven’t raised our t-shirt prices in over four years.
Sometimes we offer a free gift with larger orders or a small discount, but generally we rely on the quality of our products doing our marketing for us, and judging on how many of you come back & buy from us 2,3,5,8 times (we had a customer make their 28th purchase last week) our focus on quality works.
As you can probably guess by now, this means we’re not planning a big blowout sale this weekend. We don’t have huge margins. We’ve seen other brands offering 60% off! If we wanted to do that, it would work out cheaper for us to just post everyone on our mailing list a fiver!
We’re not complaining. We’re very happy with our little cottage industry and we’re proud of every order we send out.
This weekend is probably a great time to bag that new phone contract, or posh new frying pan (Lucy and I love a new pan to fry chinese dumplings in!) It’s definitely a good time to get a bear t-shirt or two (it’s always a good time).
Have a great weekend folks!
P.S. Advent starts on Sunday 🎄…. We’re VERY excited!
